When in Rome, learn about wine

Situated in a prized location near the Spanish Steps, the International Wine Academy of Roma was planned as a meeting place for wine lovers and is open to everybody.

Robert E Wirth, President and General Manager of the historic Hotel Hassler established Rome’s International Wine Academy in 1999.
Its educational programme was devised by Steven Spurrier, a well-known authority in wine education, who was also instrumental in the establishment of the Wine Academy in Paris in 1973 and the development of wine courses with Michael Broadbent at Christie’s in London in 1982. Distinguished wine journalist, Hugh Johnson is Honorary President of the Academy.
Visitors to Rome who are short of time can learn about Italian wine and food through a half-day intensive course, wine tours and wine tasting events organised by the Academy. At the Wine Academy, a true passion for wine is cultivated in all its aspects. Those who have a more serious interest and more time can participate in a complete educational process through other courses, states the press release.
