Chef & The Vine Series is a monthly wine and dine programme at the One&Only Cape Town which brings together the best of the Cape’s wine farms paired with seasonal dishes created by Reuben’s restaurant.

One and only Cape Town Reubens Tasting Table

The duo behind the popular Series, designed to discover the pleasures of the Table with Wine, is Reuben’s head chef, Sandi Richmond, and One&Only Cape Town’s head sommelier, Luvo Ntezo. Sandi’s menus are meticulously planned to pair with the featured wines which are provided by some of the top wine producers in the Cape.

In the recent past epicures and wine connoisseurs, alike, tasted Marianne Wine Estate‘s  French-style wines that honour both the South African terroir and the 2000-year-old heritage of Bordeaux winemaking at Reuben’s restaurant. Situated at the top of the Stellenbosch valley with breath-taking views, Delaire Graff Estate wines were teamed with chef Sandi’s specially crafted menu on the 26th of April.

Avondale Wine Estate was up next on the 28th of June, with a selection of award-winning Blanc de Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon wines.

If your interest has been piqued and appetite whetted by what’s gone before, sign up for the upcoming Chef and Vine Series dinner on the 26th of July. The wines are from Springfield Estate set in the mountain-ringed Robertson Valley. The family-run wine farm is owned by ninth-generation descendants of French Huguenots, who came to South Africa from the Loire in 1688 with bundles of vines under their arms.

If this dinner is too close, book the Jordan Wine Estate dinner on the 30th of August. Jordan wines are highly sought after, especially the range of Reserve wines expertly-made by husband and wife, Gary and Kathy Jordan. Alternatively, plan to dine at the hotel on the 27th of September when Hamilton Russell Vineyards, highly regarded for their delectable Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines, visits the One&Only in Cape Town. These full-bodied wines are exquisite and make a flawless pairing with what Reuben’s has to offer.
