Lanterns pendant from trees bobbing in the breeze, fairy lights, an open-air venue with plants and trees around, the cool of a February evening, live music, much camaraderie and banter, and a choice of Grover Zampa wines marked the after party of The 22nd Interclub Grover Vineyards Golf Championships at Darios Trattoria, Poona Club, on 18th February 2018.
The championship returned to Pune after 2012 and was hosted by Poona Golf Club and held on 17th and 18th February at the lovely 18-hole Poona Club Golf course that spreads over 95 acres. It saw the participation of players from four leading golf clubs in Western India, namely, United Services Club (USC), Bombay Presidency Golf Club (BPGC), The Willingdon Sports Club (WSC) and Poona Club Golf, making it the biggest amateur golf event in Maharashtra. Bombay Presidency Golf Club was the winner of the championship.
In the spirit of offering golfers an opportunity to compete and bond over fine wines, Grover Zampa set up a bar at the golf course, where players could enjoy their wines. The long bar counter arranged under a tree at the evening dinner party displayed their wine bottles as well as provided golfers and guests a choice of Grover Zampa wines and other beverages.

Kapil Grover, Chairman, Grover Zampa Vineyards, felicitated the winners and presented them with a Grover Zampa wine gift set.  The party continued into the night with a buffet spread by Darios, famous for its Italian food, that also had a few Indian dishes and wines. It wrapped up the championship in a spirit of sportsmanship and fellowship of the finest’ as was the ethos of the event.
