Three new dry white wines from Château Suduiraut, along with the sweet wines

Château Suduiraut unveils a range of dry white wines

Christian Seely, AXA Millésines’ managing director, and Pierre Montégut Château Suduiraut’s technical director released three dry white wines, as part of their long term strategy. “We believe that the production of highly individual dry whites of the finest quality are a vital element in the future of Château Suduiraut,” observed Seely. “This is why we are launching these wines.”

The 2020 Château Suduiraut Vieilles Vignes Grand Vin Blanc Sec, mainly a Sémillon blend rounded off with Sauvignon Blanc is the result of a strict selection of the best batches from old vines of 45 years, planted on a terroir ranked as a Sauternes Premier Cru in 1855; Château Suduiraut Pur Sémillon Grand Vin Blanc Sec, a 100% Semillon dry white wine that Seely and Montégut created, an exceptional cuvée produced in 2020; and Lions de Suduiraut Bordeaux Blanc Sec, (formerly Blanc Sec de Suduiraut) from the same plots that produce Château Suduiraut’s second sweet wine, Lions de Suduiraut Sauternes.

The Lions de Suduiraut range now comes in two versions, a dry and a sweet wine, both with a unique style and personality: generous, bright, fresh and more easily accessible when young than the
great wines. Meanwhile, the château’s Grand Vin Sauternes continues to be produced from a strict selection of the finest botrytised, grapes from old vines at the heart of the Suduiraut vineyard.

Vineyard Rendezvous with Indulge India

The second edition of the Indian Vine Trail to Nashik hosted by Indulge India took off on 9th March 2022 to explore the vineyards that produce some of India’s best wines. The swanky Radisson Blu, Nashik played the perfect host to the aperitif evening where Fruzzante and Arka Honey Dessert introduced the travellers to wines of a different hue. The Indian Vine Trail is headed by Certified Sommelier Gagan Sharma with a view to offering participants the same experience that he himself enjoys, in a unique rendezvous with owners and winemakers, learning about their struggles and wine journeys, harvesting batches of grapes in the vineyard, and tasting tank and barrel samples of unfinished wines. Vallonne, Sula, Grover Zampa, York Winery, Reveilo and Chandon were the six winery stops over the lazily paced three days spent in the Nashik valley. A special side trip to Moonshine Meadery in Pune was included to learn about the gentle art of beekeeping, and taste authentic honey.

The Indian Vine Trail celebrates the wines of India and the people behind them so that participants come away viewing Indian wines, and other drinks in a new light.

Good news for wine lovers

India-Australia interim trade deal to slash duty on Aussie wines

The “early harvest” India- Australia Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) has drastically reduced import duties on premium Australian wines, although other contentious issues, still to be agreed, are being tabled later, in what will be a full trade agreement for the first time in 11 years.

Wine grew at a compounded annual rate of 14% between 2010 and 2017 and is the fastest-growing alcoholic beverage in India. Australian wines represent 40% of India’s total wine imports of $20.3 million. In 2018, the latest year for which data is available, 5.2 million litres of wine were imported and around 17 million litres were produced locally. Source: Money Control
