In Conversation with Sommelier Erin Ryan White

With 33 years of far-reaching experience, White brings her highly approachable and informed style to pairing wines from a cellar that has put August on the list of "America's 100 Best Wine Restaurants" by Wine Enthusiast magazine. A great success! The Nagpur Wine & Food Festival '14

The 2nd Nagpur Wine and Food Festival drew more wine lovers than the year before, the festival's chief promoter Sharad Phadnis noted with understandable pride. That the two-day event, which concluded on November 23rd was a great success, was amply clear by the simple fact that almost all the wineries had exhausted their stock by 10 pm.

UNESCO honour for Pantelleria low bush vine

There's reason to rejoice for the Italian island of Pantelleria in the Strait of Sicily, known for its scenic beauty and complex Ben Ryé or Passito di Pantelleria dessert wine from the Donnafugata winery. In November this year, it was awarded heritage status by the General Assembly of UNESCO for its agricultural practice of Alberello Pantesco - the low bush vine of Pantelleria with a place on the Representative List of "The Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity".


Top 10 Wines Revealed. What you should be drinking

Each year, Wine Spectator editors survey the wines reviewed over the previous 12 months and select their Top 100, based on quality, value, availability and excitement. For any wine enthusiast, the list is worth a scan. Leading this year's list is Dow Vintage Port, with a Leeuwin Chardonnay, a Clos des Papes Chateauneuf-du-Pape, a Concha y Toro Cabernet and a Chateau Leoville Las Cases from St. Jullian all making the top 10 too. Yellow Tail Founder Charged in Drug Ring

yellowtailnov2014.jpgOne of the founders of Yellow Tail has found himself in a spot of trouble. Marcello Casella, the youngest brother in Australia's largest family-owned winery, Casella Wines, is alleged to be part of the criminal syndicate that produced, distributed and sold commercial quantities of cannabis and methylamphetamine. This operation was based in New South Wales, Australia.
