Adding another feather to its cap, The Drinks Business recognised Sula’s contribution to promoting oeno-tourism with its award for “Best contribution to Wine and Spirits Tourism”.
CEO Rajeev Samant accepted the award on May 4th at the 13th Annual Drinks Business Awards ceremony at the London Wine Fair 2016 which took place at the Olympia Exhibition Centre in West London.
Speaking on the occasion, Samant remarked that it was nice to be recognised for all the hard work that goes into winning such an award by a prestigious publication like Drinks Business.
“We are one of the most visited vineyards in the world with over 200,000 visitors and we believe we are also the #1 spot in the world where people drink their first glass of wine.
“Combine that with SulaFest and it’s something very special in the wide world of wine. It’s the first time an Indian company has won a Drinks Business award and we are over the moon!!”
Over the last 15 years, Sula has achieved many milestones. Not only did it give India its first winery in Nashik, it has also pioneered oeno-tourism by unveiling the country’s first Tasting Room in 2005 followed by a vineyard resort, “Beyond by Sula,” in 2007.
What’s more, the annual wine and music festival, SulaFest, now in its ninth year, attracted more than 10,000 people on two consecutive days this February, making it by far the most popular wine festival in India.
