Last year Vinitaly, held from April 7-10 2019, saw a sustained increase in the quality and number of buyers as compared with previous editions, emergeing as the largest ever edition of the show so far, notes a company release. It received over 125,000 visitors from 145 countries with more than 4,600 exhibitors from 35 countries occupying over 100,000 sq m of net exhibition space and 33,000 accredited international buyers – up by 3% from the year before. The Vinitaly Directory lists more than 18,000 labels from 4,500 companies.
Vinitaly 2019 was defined by its international nature and increased focus on digital connectivity. The majority of buyers came from the US, Germany, UK, China and Canada. Japan and other countries from Eastern Asia are also establishing their presence at the show and emerging as major markets. The ‘Wine to Asia’ platform to be launched in Shenzhen in 2020 will further expand Vinitaly’s international footprint and help establish a more permanent presence in the Asian market.
Considering Vinitaly’s success in 2019, the 2020 edition scheduled for 19-22 April promises to be better still, and continue this legacy as Vinitaly enters its 54th year. Given its size and scale, the show represents a unique opportunity for wine companies in sync with current market trends, to network and establish contacts, and further expand their business.
