Kumarakom Lake Resort bags award third year in a row!

hotel_awardka.jpg You may remember reading about this haven of peace and beauty in the pages of SI – The Wine Magazine (Sept/Oct 2008). Well, Kumarakom Lake Resort is in the news again. This time because it has been named India’s Leading Resort in 2008, for the third time in a row by the organisers of the World Travel Awards at a ceremony held in Shanghai last month.

Votes for the awards are cast by professionals of the world’s travel and tourism industry to acknowledge and celebrate excellence.
Situated in the tiny island hamlet of Kumarakom in Kerala, famous for its unique ecosystem, this heritage five-star luxury resort makes an idyllic getaway. There are many good reasons to visit Kumarakom Lake Resort, not least among them are Big Banyan wines.
The Big Banyan portfolio comprises three red, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel, and two white wines, Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc. Paul John was quoted in the SI article as saying, “Our intention is to produce the kind of fine wines that will put India on the wine map.” Try them for yourself, and best of all, in the salubrious setting of the award winning resort.
