The only Indian restaurant to be featured in the “2015 San Pellegrino list of 100 Best Restaurants in the World” – Indian Accent (founded by Rohit Khattar of Old World Hospitality) is all set to welcome a new audience at its second outpost in Le Parker Meridien, New York.
With the father of Indian molecular gastronomy, Chef Manish Mehrotra at its helm, the restaurant has ‘wowed’ gourmands from across the world at The Manor in New Delhi – the place where it was born.
Taking off from the menu that is served in Delhi, Mehrotra has created a new menu that is seasonal, modern and delicious, all at the same time. So what’s in store for you if you dine at Indian Accent, NY? Well, there’s Sweet Pickle Ribs with sun dried mango and onion seeds, Baby Squid with crispy rice and everything chutney, Pepper Roast Dosa with wild mushrooms, black truffles and water chestnuts, Doda Barfi treacle tart with vanilla bean ice cream, and we are just skimming the surface.
You can also look forward to Delhi’s flavours with the ever-popular Stuffed Kulchas, filled with Butter Chicken or Saag Paneer, to take just one example. With New York’s hip food scene in mind, the kulchas also come stuffed with Applewood Smoked Bacon or Pastrami with Mustard Butter.
In step with the amazing nouvelle cuisine on offer is the restaurant’s wine and beverage programme by Wine & Beverage Director Daniel Beedle with its selection of trendy cocktails, 300 wines (fruit-forward and light reds), classic and contemporary cocktails, as well as non-alcoholic beverages.
The restaurant has been designed by Dan Mazzarini and Brian Humphrey of Manhattan-based design studio, BHDM, with inputs from Rashmi Khattar. With an 11-foot, high gilded wall and an Indian jaali motif as the centrepiece, the interiors are subtly traditional yet elegant and upmarket.
