Recently, Aspri Spirits introduced two Cavas from the Freixenet portfolio at the Sassy Spoon Bandra. Freixenet is the world’s leading Cava producer. Cava is sparkling wine from Spain made with native grapes – Macabeo, Xarel-lo and Parellada, most of which is produced in Catalonia. Freixenet Cavas are made in the méthode champenoise and it can take up to three years from the time the grapes are picked until the wine is ready for your glass.
The Cordon Negro Brut is often referred to as the “Black Bottle Bubbly” is undoubtedly Freixenet’s core brand and is iconic and globally renowned. It is a crisp, clean and well-balanced wine. The fresh palate of apple, ripe pear and bright citrus flavours combine with a long finish and an exciting touch of ginger.
The Carta Nevada Semi Dry makes a wonderful sparkling aperitif. Bridging the gap between dry and sweet sparkling wine, it is also a suitable partner in sparkling wine cocktails. The toasty aroma and fruity, flavourful palate deliver creamy, sweet peaches with smooth custard flavors. Just the right touch of acidity makes it lively!
Damian Clarke – Managing Director, Freixenet Group and Philippe Jamme – Manager Global Duty Free & Travel Retail who were present on the occasion explained the history of Freixenet, about the wines that reflect the excellent chalky soils and prime growing conditions that shape the character of each bottle. Clarke said, “Freixenet is enjoyed by consumers in over 150 countries and we are delighted. India will now be one of them. Freixenet represents the style and energy of our hometown, Barcelona. It can be enjoyed on its own or as part of a cocktail but is always a stylish drink consumed by those people who celebrate life.”
Both the wines are priced at Rs 1795 and are currently available in Mumbai. According to Jackie Matai, Owner and Director of Aspri Spirits the wines will be launched soon in Bangalore, Goa and Delhi.
