Do you yearn to make sense of wine? Take all the gobbledygook out and really get to grips with the subject? Do you dream of a hands-on course, working in the vineyard and winery? Imagine the beautiful environs of a wine estate in Provence in the south of France? Would you like to stay at a magnificent 9th century Priory, drinking the finest wines and dining on Michelin quality cuisine? Well, go no further. We have the course for you, writes Reva K.Singh
Called the ‘Ultimate Boot Camp’ but also described by a former student as the ‘Rolls-Royce of wine courses’, the Chêne Bleu Extreme Wine Experience is offered in conjunction with Christie’s and the London Wine Academy.
The course is designed as ‘best-in-category’ and helps enthusiasts of all levels to significantly improve their knowledge and appreciation of fine wine. Combining theory and practice, the course takes participants ‘from the soil to the vine to the winery to the glass to the palate’. You will learn the difference between good wine and great wine by tasting over 100 benchmark wines. What’s more, the learning is strengthened with creative and gastronomic food pairing.
Taught by Clive Barlow MW, Chairman, Education Committee of the Institute of Masters of Wine, and Nick Dumergue, a top wine judge and writer currently based in Asia, the course combines the systematic approach and official qualification of the WSET Intermediate Certification with the proprietary Chêne Bleu Extreme Wine Certification from Nicole Rolet, Principal, La Verrière and Chêne Bleu wines.
This is a residential course that offers an unparalleled learning experience over five days, between Sunday 5th and Thursday, 9th June 2011 at the Domaine de La Verriere (www.laverriere.com) an idyllic private wine estate set in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The course ends at midday on Thursday, but participants are encouraged to stay for the pool party and Wine Oscars celebration that night.
Places are limited. For more information visit www.chenebleuextremewine.com.
