Wine Festivals are a regular feature around the world especially in Europe and other wine producing regions. They offer a great opportunity to enjoy the country’s food and culture and to interact with wine producers and their products. This explains why these wine fairs are an important process in the expansion of one’s taste and understanding of wines, reports Suneeta Sodhi Kanga.
The year 2010 witnessed a number of diverse wines, foods and many different gourmet brands coming together at The Club, Andheri West, Mumbai for an enthralling experience. The Club members got a chance to cook with wine, experience the traditional grape crushing ritual and an opportunity to interact with producers of wine and wine-related products.
A Day at the Vineyards was specially recreated at The Club’s main lawns with a live jazz band, unplugged music and an upbeat DJ in attendance. An all-day event, the ambience was perfect for the entire family to relax, sample wines, interact with exhibitors and educate themselves on the nuances of wine and wine drinking. Some of the participants were Riona, Four Seasons, Reveilo, FineWinesNMore, Château Indage, Château D’Ori, Zampa Wines and Good Earth Wines.
The Anada wine club added some zing to the wine festival by connecting wine and fashion. Designer Amy Billimoria put up a show that evening where models walked in clothes that were soaked in wine.
As the company release states, The Anada Club is an exclusive wine club in Mumbai that provides wine lovers and wine producers the opportunity to appreciate and promote both Indian and international wines. The Anada Wine Club was founded in December, 2004 by passionate wine enthusiasts – Dinesh Khanna, a hospitality veteran and Ranjan Kapur, one of India’s most iconic advertising figures.
The press release also notes that the wine club is not a wine retailing business but aims to bring wine producers and wine drinkers together to become a true community of like-minded individuals with a love for wine. Membership to the Wine Club provides its members with opportunities to attend events that are select, interactive and restricted so as to facilitate networking and getting to know other members.
“This is an initiative to bring the world of wines to people through a Wine Festival. Anada Wine Club will continue to host such events at The Club. I believe it provides an important platform for wine producers to reach out to people who love or want to know more about wines.”
