Sunshine and wine at the Blue Bar

bluebar1.jpgSoon after its successful launch in Pune, Four Seasons wines were launched in Bangalore. The launch by USL of the Four Seasons range was done in style at the Blue Bar at the Taj West End, Bangalore, on Sunday, March 1, writes Ruma Singh.Members of the Bangalore Wine Club, the exclusive invitees to the event, got a chance to sip, swirl and savour not just a couple, but six wines from its newly launched range.


Dressed for summer – and it was a warm day – the members started with two whites (the Four Seasons Chenin Blanc and a Sauvignon Blanc), moved on to a rosé and finished off with a choice of three reds, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and Shiraz. To pair with all this was a wide array of delicious food, right from the cheese and olive platters at the bar, to a range of grilled meat and seafood.
The lamb chops in Thai red curry paste were declared a hit when paired with the full-bodied and rich Shiraz. Also on the menu that day were dishes ranging from biryani to honey-glazed ham. And finally, there was an array of desserts including chocolate mousse and apple pie. The rosé was very popular with many, who found its crisp, refreshing taste just right to offset the summer day.
Abhay Kewadkar, head of USL’s wine business declared himself very pleased with the feedback he received that afternoon.
“I’ll be very happy if the consumer at large gains confidence in the quality of Indian wines after this,” he said. “This will go a long way in helping develop the wine industry in India.”
As for the Bangalore Wine Club, it was one more memorable event to add to their list of successful events this year.
