A Spanish wine and food festival is being held at the Le Meridien Hotel in Pune from the 20th to 28th October 2010 in collaboration with Bodegas Farina winery from Spain’ s famous Toro wine producing region reports Brinda Gill. The winery is specially flying down Chef Luis Alberto for the festival which will feature a creative Spanish cuisine menu with El Pastor cheese from Benavente, Spain, and fine wines from the Farina winery.
The wines being served are Farina Colegiata Malvasia, a clean, fresh, juicy, aromatic white with lively acidity; the Farina Barrica is produced from 30 to 40 year old vines of Tinta de Toro and aged in new French and American oak barrels for four months thus offering an enjoyable fruit and oak balance,complexity and structure from the oak ageing; the Farina Crianza made from 60 to 70 year old vines of Tinta de Toro, and aged in new premium French old barrels for 11 months making it intense red in colour, with a good balance between oak and fruit, lively on the palate with good acidity; and Peromato, 86 points Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, March 2008, 100% Tempranillo, a soft, easy drinking, fruit forward and floral wine. All these wines are imported and marketed in India by Kiara Wines.
