Move over, lovers of the pub crawl. The Bangalore Wine Club recently launched a first-of-its-kind food and wine event in Bangalore, the BWC Wine Crawl writes Ruma Singh.Over one entire evening, wine club members wined and dined in style across four participating restaurants at the hip and happening UB City. BWC members indulged in a delicious four-course meal complemented with fine wines – however, with a difference. Across this fun evening, they visited four participating fine-dining restaurants – Shiro, Toscano, Fava and The Tasty Tangles – and savoured different wines with a signature dish (appetizer, starter, main course & dessert) from each place.
The evening started at Shiro with a chilled glass of Australian Hardys Chardonnay and the restaurant’s signature dim sums. After 45 minutes, the crawl moved to Toscano where members savoured an Italian Pinot Bianco with Chefs Jean Michel and Gautham’s terrine of grilled vegetables and rucola salad. Forty five minutes later, we proceeded to Abhijit Saha’s Fava for the main course of lamb shank tagine for the non-vegetarians and spanakopita stack for the vegetarians with a glass of the Italian Bertani Valpolicella. The concluding dessert round was at The Tasty Tangles with a glass of German Deinhard Beerenauslese.
This promises to be the first of several such unusual wine-and food experiences from the ever-innovative Bangalore Wine Club.
