One of the world’s leading Bordeaux AOC wines, Mouton Cadet, will be exclusively available at a number of The European Tour’s leading golf championships in 2012 after the company signed a seven year deal to become the Official Supplier of wine to the Tour. Produced by the family-owned French wine company Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA, Mouton Cadet achieves annual sales of 12 million bottles, with 78 per cent of that number exported to 150 countries around the globe thanks to Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA’s powerful and extensive sales network.
As well as becoming the Official Wine Supplier to The European Tour, Mouton Cadet will also service the needs of individual events, including the Tour’s flagship event, the recent BMW PGA Championship, the Irish Open, the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open, the Senior Open Championship presented by Rolex and the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai.
Created in 1930, Mouton Cadet has remained true to its origins whilst evolving into what has now become the worldwide reference for Bordeaux Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée wines.
An immediate success in France in the 30’s, Mouton Cadet started its expansion in UK and North America in the 60’s, to become the best-selling Bordeaux in the world in the 80’s, a success and expansion that continues to the present day.
From three million bottles in 1975 to the 12 million now sold every year throughout the world, the figures underline how far Mouton Cadet has come since its beginnings.
Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, the daughter of the legendary Baron Philippe, at the head of the family business, has unfailingly continued her father’s work, innovating, creating and promoting Mouton Cadet highest standards of quality.
Mouton Cadet has been associated with premium events throughout the worlds of sport, fashion and cinema, including the Cannes International Film Festival, where Mouton Cadet has been an Official Supplier since 1992.
Hugues Lechanoine, Managing Director of Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA, said: “We are thrilled with our international partnership between the European tour and Mouton Cadet.
“The inner codes of golf: elegance, conviviality and respect, are also the values of our wines and family company, and we are delighted to share the same ‘etiquette’.”
George O’Grady, Chief Executive of The European Tour, said: “Mouton Cadet is a truly exceptional brand that will enhance the world-class hospitality on offer at European Tour events. We are delighted to welcome Mouton Cadet to our family of Official Suppliers and to working with their global distribution network.”
