|Seventeen wine enthusiasts sat for an examination on Saturday, the 29th of March ’08 in Mumbai. The Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) of UK offers the world’s most comprehensive and contemporary Wine Education Programmes. The good news is that KBR School of Wine is the only wine school in the country to be affiliated and associated with WSET and they offer these courses nation wide. Currently, KBR offers two levels of the WSET courses: Foundation Level I and Intermediate Level II.|
The March examination was for the WSET Foundation Level I. The examination papers, which arrive from U.K., are maintained under strict surveillance at the KBR office in Mumbai. After the examination, the papers are couriered to the UK for correction and the certificates follow duly in a matter of two weeks.
The senior trainers of Jet Airways, wine retailers, hospitality students and simply wine enthusiasts were some of the many sitting for this examination. In the next few months, there will be many more Indians gaining WSET certifications and before we know it; our country will be brimming with wine-knowledgeable professionals as well as consumers. Let us now look forward to a wonderful future in the growing world of wine education.

Editor’s Note: We’re excited to learn about programmes like the KBR School of Wine as it will lead to more professionally trained Sommeliers in the country. It will also prevent untrained amateurs from referring to themselves as Sommeliers.
