Fratelli Wines, one of India’s premium wine producers, has become the first ever Indian wine brand to collaborate with The Taj Group of Hotels and develop a house wine to be served at the prestigious St James’ Court Hotel in London.

The wine, named Compagnon de St. James or Companion of St. James, is a delicate blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese, carefully crafted by Piero Masi, chief winemaker at Fratelli. The grapes have been handpicked by Piero and his team from Fratelli’s 240-acre estate-owned vineyards in Akluj near Pune, notes a release from Fratelli Wines.  A complex and balanced red wine, aged for upto 13 months in French oak barrels, Compagnon de St. James has aromas of vanilla, violets and subtle notes of black olive, pepper and dark plum.

As Kapil Sekhri, director, Fratelli Wines, noted, “This wine symbolises our belief that India has the potential to produce world quality wines. It is definitely a proud feeling for us to know that our wines are being recognised and appreciated for their quality and taste on both national and international levels.”

Exclusively bottled for the Taj Group, the wine will soon be available at the hotel throughHallgarten Druitt, Fratelli’s importers in the UK, who also import other brands of Fratelli. St. James’ Court Hotel lies between Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament. The hotel has an informal, contemporary ambience and the elegant charm of one of Britain’s finest hotels.
