The world’s best-selling dark beer will be celebrating its 250th anniversary in 2009, and a year of festivities is being planned. Many will centre on the company’s headquarters in Dublin, where visitors can watch the whole brewing process, from grain to bottle, and sample the result in the rooftop bar.|
Dublin has just been voted Europe’s friendliest city for the second year running in a TripAdvisor.com survey of international tourists, and Tourism Ireland is working to increase the number of visitors from new markets such as India. It says holidaymakers who come from further afield tend to stay longer and are more likely to travel throughout the island – much easier now border controls between the Irish Republic and Northern Ireland have been abolished.
