DBW_logo_crest-onlyDe Bortoli, a third generation family-owned winery, has re-entered the Indian market through Prestige Wines and Spirits. De Bortoli was established in 1928 by Vittorio and Giuseppina De Bortoli who emigrated to Australia from northern Italy.

To begin with, Prestige is importing De Bortoli’s Family Selection Pinot Grigio, Family Selection Shiraz, and Barossa Valley Premium Shiraz wines, available in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. In the coming months, its Harvest Diary Semillion Chardonnay and Shiraz Cabernet, (exclusive labels for Starwood properties worldwide) will also become available in the Indian market.

The company culture is one of hard work, generosity of spirit and sharing good food, good wine and good times with family and friends. As the winery website states, “At De Bortoli we strive to make genuinely interesting wine styles with a strong regional focus that also offer outstanding value. We believe wine should have varietal detail and be a reflection of site and season. Wine should have ‘a sense of place’.”

Priced at Rs 1,550 in Delhi and Rs 1,750 in Mumbai, the De Bortoli Family Selection Pinot Grigio is a refreshing, zesty white wine with soft floral aromas and lemon flavours, while the DB Family Selection Shiraz, at the same price, is smooth and rich with ripe plum and berry fruit complemented by spice. The fullbodied Barossa Valley Premium Shiraz with soft, gentle tannins and a long finish, on the other hand, costs rather more at Rs 3,750 in Delhi and Rs 3,000 in Mumbai.
