SI Ticker Tape: UGC President's term extended
On 29 June 2011, the Board of Directors of the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux renewed the mandate of President Sylvie Cazes. Sylvie Cazes was first appointed on 26 June 2008 to head this association consisting of 133 wine châteaux from the most prestigious appellations in Bordeaux. Founded in 1973 and managed by Jean-Marc Guiraud, the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux organises some 50 tastings annually in 15 countries.
The château owners attending these events meet an average of 35,000 professionals from the media and the wine trade every year.
In the past several years, the Union des Grands Crus has increased the number of events for consumers, such as the Week-end des Grands Crus in Bordeaux (the 7th will be held on the 12th & 13th of May 2012), as well as other tastings held in conjunction with distributors on the main export markets for the great wines of Bordeaux.
