Baroque, Barolo and Bava!

bava1.jpgWineessentially, Mumbai based FineWinesnMore's uber exclusive wine platform created for American Express Platinum card members, recently hosted a fabulous evening celebrating 'Baroque, Barolo and Bava', a journey of wine, music and sound, on a wonderful Autumnal evening by the poolside at the Hyatt Regency, Delhi, writes a Sommelier India reporter.

The wine loving new CEO of American Express Banking Corp., Shailesh B. Baidwan, welcomed the guests for the evening with a small introduction to Wineessentially.

This, the 3rd such event in Delhi for Wineessentially, provided a well-heeled Delhi
clientele the unique opportunity to discover both the winemaking talent and musical
influences of iconic Piemontese winemaker, Roberto Bava, and to experience firsthand
a very high calibre of fine wines interlaced with ethereal musical nuances, from an
ensemble of flute, saxophone, jal tarang and cello. The ambience was magical with candle light (some 200 candles), fragrant flowers and the aromas of Chef Dirk Holscher's fabulous cuisine.

It is Roberto's belief and hence his winemaking idiom, that there is a symbiotic
relationship between musical instruments and wine characteristics, and the bringing together of these two disciplines on this one night in autumn, enthralled everyone present.

Adding another special dimension to the entire evening was the bava2.jpglaunch of the Monferrato Rosato DOC Ciaret - an exclusive Rosé wine made for India - the result of a joint venture between Roberto Bava and Dharti Desai. It was interesting to note that even the most serious and hardened of Barolo drinkers were awash in this absolutely delicious and far-too-easy to drink wine.

Wineessentially's Craig W. Wedge, along with Roberto Bava, ensured that the guests wereentertained with a balanced measure of wine speak, music and anecdotal commentary. Whilst the evening was about wine and sound as enhancements to the company of others, the food from The Hyatt's well trained kitchen team - a mixture of flavours and textures from Italy's vast landscape - ensured every mouthful of wine was appreciated.

All in all, another bar raising episode from FineWinesnMore and the Hyatt Regency
team.
