blogLRWRawards_2010.jpgHere's good news that all Sommelier India subscribers and readers will be pleased to hear. Well-known wine writer and SI columnist, Jancis Robinson (whose bi-monthly column is avidly consumed by many of you in the pages of Sommelier India) has won a richly deserved honour.

www.JancisRobinson.com, was voted Wine Website of the Year 2010 in the Louis Roederer International Wine Writers Awards which were announced in the City of London last week.

"We are absolutely thrilled to have been voted the first-ever International Wine Website of the Year in Louis Roederer International Wine Writers Awards 2010," Jancis wrote on her website. Thanking the judges, organisers and numerous well wishes, she said, "It's great to have all the effort we put into www.JancisRobinson.com noticed and appreciated."

The indefatigable Jancis, who is a self acknowledged workaholic, updates the website every day. Surf through it and see for yourself what a wealth of wine information and insight the website offers. If your want more news and in depth analysis, sign up for Purple Pages, which is the password protected, paid for, section of the website. Monthly memberships are now available.

Just to give you an indication of the kind of articles you might find, here are a few examples:

Other websites in the running for the honour were: Tom Cannavan's www.wine-pages.com, Jamie Goode's www.wineanorak.com and Gabriella Opaz's www.catavino.net. All worthy contenders.

The prize was a very heavy glass sculpture (pictured with Jancis holding it), a magnum of Cristal and a generous cheque, which she writes will be shared. "The last two will be shared, the first only if there is a terrible accident"!
