Wine shopping for ease and pleasure at Dubai Duty Free

BLOG-DDF-Le Clos.jpgWine Retail in India leaves much to be desired; nor is the price exactly encouraging considering the steep mark-up on duty paid wines in India. However, here's a tip for you: stock up on your favourite bottles at the duty free shops of international airports when you travel, even including our own Indira Gandhi International Airport, advises Reva K. Singh

My favourite for sheer shopping pleasure as well as superb choice and value, is the Dubai Duty Free. And, I'm obviously not alone in my preference. Quite recently, Le Clos, MMI's fine wine and luxury spirits boutique, was in the news for breaking the world record in travel retail with an individual purchase of fine wine.

B LOG-DDE-Le Clos Petrus.jpgEight bottles of exceptional Bordeaux wines with a total value of US$107,000 were purchased in a single sale on August 22, 2010. Among them were exceptionally rare and iconic vintages of Petrus including 1947, 1961 and a magnum of 1959. Andrew Day, CEO of MMI (the owners and operators of Le Clos), noted that their En Primeur release this year attracted huge interest while notching up strong sales to wine aficionados' and collectors alike, "who are looking for the highest quality products, trusted provenance and exceptional customer service."

So whether you are looking for wine to gift, or to drink yourself, or to build an investment portfolio, you now have it on good authority that at this airport you will find a wide range of excellent quality and good value wines and spirits together with Le Clos's expert wine advisors who are there to assist you, so that you can make any purchase, however big or small, with complete confidence.

Le Clos has two outlets at Emirates Terminal 3; one situated in the exclusive Emirates First Class Lounge and the other between gates 214 and 215 on the main shopping concourse. For further details check www.leclos.net
