The top Indian wine labels are showcased by the wine companies for members as they wander from station to station, sipping, tasting and enjoying the wines as they please in a free-flowing, relaxed format.

This year's version of the Indian Wine Village was held in the al fresco settings of the Taj West End's Blue Bar. Wine companies which were present included Big Banyan, Four Seasons, Grover Vineyards, Kinvah, Reveilo, Seagram's Nine Hills, Sula Vineyards. Members and their guests clustered around tables to get a taste of their favourites. While some chose to start their afternoon with a chilled rose (Four Seasons, Nine Hills or Big Banyan) others opted for a white from the varietals present (sauvignon blanc, chenin blanc, grillo, viognier and several blends) Others moved straight to the range of red wines on display... commenting on the rising high standards of Indian wines.

Reveilo wines' Yatin and Kiran Patil, who had come down especially from Nasik for the afternoon, introduced their new varietals Nero d'Avola and Grillo to curious and appreciative BWC members. "We're glad to be here. Bangalore has always been a special market for us," said Kiran Patil, as she dispensed glasses of her Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. A lavish buffet spread, including a kid's counter with kid-frienedly food found many takers as the afternoon wore on. And some even chose to wind up the day by combining chocolate (Lindt) with wine! A great start to a season of excellent wine drinking.
