In a first ever joint foray overseas, eight Indian wine companies exhibited their wines at an 'India Pavilion' at the London International Wine Fair on 18 to 20 May. In what was one of the most elegant and well put together wine evenings the city of Bangalore has seen, Marilisa Allegrini of Italy's famous Allegrini family introduced a handpicked range of Allegrini wines to the city's wine cognoscenti, writes Ruma Singh. De Bortoli Noble One Australian Botrytis Semillon is one of the world's best among sweet wines. In 1982 Darren De Bortoli, who had just graduated from Roseworthy Agricultural College, Adelaide, created a path breaking Sauternes-style sweet wine at the family winery in Bilbul in New South Wales from botrytis grapes and called it, 'Noble One'.

On 8 May 2010, the Indian Grape Processing Board (IGPB) organized a half-day national level conference to discuss the potential and challenges of the Indian wine industry. Last Friday witnessed the end of an Australian wine odyssey for the New Delhi wine trade. The end, that is, until at least September of October this year. Since September 2009, the Australian Trade Commission and the unofficial ambassador for Australian wine in India, sommelier Harshal Shah have presented a series of tastings for the trade, showcasing regional Australian wine.
