Women's Wine Club launches in Mumbai

w3a.jpgWine clubs are popping up across the country at a frenzied pace as interest in wine grows. And as consumers deepen their appreciation for wine, the clubs are getting more specialized. The most recent club entry is W-3 - Wine, Women and Wit launched by importer Dharti Desai of FineWinesnMore and Chandni Dhall of Dhall Food and Beverages at the Rendezvous, Taj Mahal Hotel Mumbai recently. Shiv Singh comments. Pictured are guests at the launch party.

W3 is positioned as a lifestyle company and community engaging in creating signature events for wine and related lifestyle experiences. The goal is to create themed events linking fashion, travel, theatre, music and performing arts with the appreciation of fine wine. Some of the attendees at the launch included Anjana Kuthaliya, Shekhar Suman, Gul Panag and Nisha Zaver

The club has two levels of membership - Sparkling priced at INR 25,000 and Rose priced at INR 50,000. Annual membership fees go up after the first six months. Included in fees are discounts at restaurants, invitations to wine dinners and cultural events, wine solutions advice, a Sommelier service and discounts on wines from FineWinesnMore. The club will also deliver wines in Mumbai at discounted prices. Currently the club is Mumbai based but has plans to enter Delhi and Bangalore early in the new year.

While it cannot be independently confirmed, it does appear that W-3 replaces the FWMClub originally established by FineWinesnmore. What isn't clear either is whether W-3 will introduce its members to wines that are brought into the country by importers other than FineWinesnMore. Also not known is whether members will be introduced to Indian wines through the club's activities.

Regardless, we wish the club every success and are confident that it will give discerning women exciting opportunities to enjoy wine and the culture surrounding it. For more information visit the W-3 website.
