Le Clos, wine retailer in Dubai, wins prestigious award

leclos.gifThis year Dubai-based Maritime and Mercantile International (MMI) - a subsidiary of The Emirates Group - won the prestigious Travel Retail Operator of the year award for its fine wine and spirit retail outlets, Le Clos, in the 2009 Drinks International Awards during the Tax Free World Association (TFWA) exhibition held in Cannes. Le Clos is located at the Dubai International Airport.

The award recognized Le Clos for its superior selection of rare wines and spirits and its highly trained, multilingual staff capable of assisting customers in their purchases.

Andrew Day, Chief Executive Officer, MMI, said: "Le Clos is a truly unique wine and spirit retail destination. The stores provide a relaxed, welcoming environment where both serious collectors and novices have access to some of the world's most exquisite spirits and rarest wines."

He went on to say that was a clear demand for this type of retailer with a strong, highly qualified sales team."

Located in Emirates Terminal 3, Dubai International Airport, Le Clos comprises two retail outlets, one situated on the main concourse and one in the Emirates First Class lounge offering a selection of the best and most exclusive wines and spirits across the globe, at duty free prices.

All wines stocked at Le Clos are sourced direct, guaranteeing their provenance and are stored in a temperature controlled environment to ensure quality.

Furnished with leather chairs, original crates and wood furnishings, Le Clos has a quietly luxurious but welcoming ambiance and is an ideal showcase for its extensive portfolio. Since its opening in October 2008 Le Clos has sold some of the world's most sought after wines such as Château Petrus 1982 and Château Lafite Rothschild 1982.

Besides an enviable collection of over 400 wines, Le Clos also features luxury spirits such as 40-year-old single malts from Glenfiddich, Dalmore and Bruichladdich.

In addition to the two retail outlets within Terminal 3 Departures, Le Clos also has a successful, concierge style service for inbound passengers. Customers can view Le Clos's collection online at www.leclos.net, order by phone or email and then collect their purchases in the arrival hall at Dubai International Airport.

Le Clos is an exciting new venture for MMI. Long established as a successful business in the Gulf region, MMI and its Associates is an alcohol distributor in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Oman with significant duty free experience through Dubai Duty Free, Qatar Duty Free and as the operator of Duty Free Dubai Ports.
