Zampa and the Lakme Fashion Week
Long after the excitement of the Lakme Fashion Week was over what lingered on was the honey smooth taste of the Zampa Chenin Blanc 2008 or, if you were a red wine buff, the Zampa Syrah 2007 with its explosion of red berries and spice, with toasty overtones on the palate, says Suneeta Sodhi Kanga.
The Zampa Rosé 2008 paired well with various Indian dishes. Crafted by Australian winemaker, Paul Bailey, this opulent rosé I felt had a youthful exuberance bursting with the aroma of ripe red berry fruits.
Zampa (along with Grey Goose and Carlsberg Beer) was the official wine sponsor for the just concluded 10th Lakmé Fashion Week in Mumbai. For the wine enthusiasts among the over 5000 visitors, the rosé and white wines were more popular during the day and, come evening, the red took over. The Fashion week was held at the Grand Hyatt and displayed some great wardrobes with striking and wearable outfits to both, international and domestic, buyers.
"Unmask your soul", proclaimed the Zampa signage, keeping in tune with Lakme's parade of beauty and fashion. Zampa wines are produced with grapes from the Vallée de Vin vineyards at a state-of-the-art winery in Sanjegaon, near Nashik. The company's products presently comprise a limited portfolio, but they are looking to add new labels soon. Watch out for some sparkling surprises!
The next season of the Fashion Week takes place in October this year with Zampa continuing as the official wine.
