Travelling to Geneva any time soon? Here’s news you can use

vineetchef.jpg The Mandarin Oriental, Geneva, has added two new, world-class restaurants: 'Rasoi by Vineet' and 'Le Sud', which have already made a mark on the Geneva dining scene among Indian food afficionados and wine lovers. Both restaurants have been designed by the internationally acclaimed Adam D.Tihany – one a strikingly innovative Indian restaurant and the other a contemporary all day French-style brasserie.

'Rasoi by Vineet' is the hotel’s signature restaurant and likely to be a great lure for cosmopolitan foodies in Geneva. Vineet Bhatia is a Michelin starred chef who specialises in uniquely 'evolved' Indian food. The restaurant is decorated with vibrant colours of Indian reds and purples with silver leaf set into rich woods and stone surfaces. It radiates luxury and warmth with a touch of Indian flavour. A modern design of a traditional tandoori oven located at the entrance of Rasoi provides a striking centrepiece. During the summer, the restaurant spills out on to a beautiful terrace with views over the River Rhône.

Less formal and offering a relaxed atmosphere, contemporary French-style brasserie, 'Le Sud' is part of Lyon Brasserie’s Nord-Sud founded by world-renowned award-winning Chef Paul Bocuse and Jean-Fleury.

Le Sud’s centre-piece is a spectacular circular glass wine-cellar that houses more than 1,500 bottles of specially selected international and local fine wines. Le Sud offers traditional home-style Mediterranean cooking with top quality produce from all the regions of the Mediterranean, including Southern France, Italy, Spain, and as far as North Africa, at great value.

The restaurant’s simple and chic décor of beige, bronze and amber shades provides a sophisticated yet casual ambience by day. At night, with dramatic and stylish lighting, the restaurant transforms into an intimate venue for a special dining experience.

An attractive wine cellar close by enhances my dining experience in a restaurant. I haven't seen the one at Le Sud yet, but one of the high points of eating at The Oberoi Delhi's 360 or Travertino, is the Enoteca next door.

I sometimes prowl there spotting labels that I've read about in Sommelier India, and when I order a bottle I'm reassured to know it's been properly stored!
