IFOWS and Vinitaly 2008

ifows_2008.jpgThe sixth edition of the India International Food and Wine Show (IFOWS) took place between January 17 to 19, 2008 at InterContinental The Grand New Delhi. In addition to training sessions, workshops and wine tastings, the highlight of this year’s Show was the IFOWS Sommelier Training Programme, a two-day programme conducted by master sommelier, Roberto Bellini, in conjunction with Associazione Italiana Sommelier.

Also popular were the Vinitaly seminar on Brunello di Montalcino conducted by Count Francesco Marone Cinzano and Michele Shah (who is a Sommelier India wine magazine) contributor and her Introduction to the World of Wines the next day. Subodh Kant Sahay noted in his opening speech at the inauguration of the Show that he saw wine as an agri-business that would motivate the farmer to grow grapes. “Your coming here will boost this sector,” he told told the chief guest, Italian Minister of Agriculture, Paolo De Castro.
