simone2.jpgTV Star Simone Singh has launched Chateau d'Ori's range of local wines in Mumbai. The wines include a Viva, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernot Merlot and Cabernet Syrah. The collection of two whites and three reds are priced between Rs.350 and Rs.650. These wines will be first available in the Mumbai, Pune, Goa, Bengaluru & Kolkata markets with Delhi to follow soon after that. Simone Star is an Indian actress who played the title role in the popular television series Heena. She has also starred in Ek Rishta: The Bond of Love.

Speaking on the occasion, Ranjit Dhuru, Chairman and MD, d’Ori Winery Pvt. Ltd said: “Chateau d’Ori has endeavored to incorporate the best viticulture and winery practices from the Bordeaux region of France – home of the finest wines in the world – right from the cultivation of grapes to the winemaking process – we believe its a first in India.”

d'Ori Winery positions itself as being the first Indian winery where the entire process of wine making is inspired by oncology practices that are prevalent in the Bordeaux region of France. The wines were developed by French winemaker M Fakorelli who has two decades of experience and is in charge of 25 chateaux in France.

Chateau d'Ori is spread over a single estate of 100 acres in the twin hills of Nerra Ori in Dindori, Nashik. Another 300 acres have been taken up for development. These should be ready by 2010. The vineyard, has been under preparation for six years. According to Chateau d'Ori, its Merlot plantation is the largest single plantation in India.

Back in October, Chateau d'Ori conducted a wine tasting with Pune wine lovers.
