Forging Ahead In The Asia Pacific With Wine For Asia

The French reputed the world over for their fine wines, exquisite flavours and traditional businesses are forging into the Asia Pacific to deepen their footprint in the Asian wine Industry. Ms Christine Gilguy, Deputy Chief Editor of MOCI reported at Vinexpo recently that French wine exports to Singapore jumped by 43% to €360 million in 2006. This is more than 3 times the value of French wine exports to China which stood at €100 million the same year.” Sommelier India partners with Wine for Asia.

This little city state also stands out in terms of sophistication in wine consumption as it has the highest average import value of wine in the world. This value was US$16/litre which is 3 times higher than India, 13 times higher than China and 14 times higher than France. “This makes Singapore an important regional platform for French wine exports to Asia” she added.

“To accommodate this growing interest in the Asia Pacific, Wine for Asia 2007 is glad to welcome a new French national pavilion. We will see a comprehensive representation of French wines, from the grand crus and AOC wines to distinctive Vins de Pays, from the traditional “assemblage wines” to “new wave styles” concocted by a new generation of innovative wine makers blending the top of the range to value-for-money, ready-to-drink wines,” says Serene Ho, Senior Project Manager, Wine For Asia 2007.

The significance of Singapore to French wine exports, has made Wine For Asia 2007 a natural business platform for the French wineries to reach out to the Asian wine market. The excellent wine logistics infrastructure and the sophistication in wine consumption in Singapore are advantages that these wineries which participate in Wine for Asia 2007 can ride on. To date, the representation of French businesses include wineries from South and Southwest of France, a welcome addition to the traditional wine makers of Bordeaux, Burgundy, Rhône Valley, Alsace and Champagne.

The 5000 trade visitors expected to arrive at Wine For Asia 2007 will be inundated with a wide variety and some of the most exclusive wines from Wine Flavours Avitra, Domaine de la Chanade, Cave de Labastide, Domaine de Gineste, Chateau de Salettes Chateau Belair la Royere, Chateau Chadenne, Chateau du Pavilion, Chateau du Seuil, Chateau Fondouce, Domaine Begude, Domaine de Sainte Rose, Domaine La Bouscade, Earl Vignoble Jean-Michel Molieux, Saint Paulet Vignobles, Vignobles Henri Bourlon, Terriors Club, Champagne Prin Prere et Fils, Chateaux Classic, LGI Languedoc Wines, Vignobles Alain Chateau, Xavier Vins, Authentic French Wines G.I.E, Unite, Capital Millesime S.A.S, Chateau Vitallis, Chateau d’Hugus, JP Paquet and La Cave Fine Wines, as well as the rare showing of varietals such as Braucol, Duras, Loin de l’oeil, Mauzac and Fer Servadou.
