|Sunday 31st August, The Wine Society, New Delhi held its Annual General Meeting at The Park, on Parliament Street, reports K. Singh. Agenda, minutes and audited balance sheets, elections of a new committee, et al, went through without a hitch as all the 84 members present were itching to get down to the real business they were there for!|
The theme for the event was, “Only Sparklings” (except for the dessert wine). The evening kicked off with Codorniu Brut Clasico from Spain with a warm Asparagus salad and Tellagio cheese, followed by Sartori di Verona Prosecco with homemade Artichoke and Ricotta Ravioli and Oven roasted Cherry Tomato in Sage Butter.
Then came the mouth-watering main course of Almond crusted Scottish Salmon, Smashed thyme, Zucchini with Shrimp and Fennel fricasse accompanied by Pommery Brut Royal Champagne. Last of all, the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake with Anglaise sauce was accompanied by a delicately sweet Moscat di Asti, DOCG, Marchesi di Barolo.
The decibel and hilarity levels had moved up many notches by the end of the meal and so had the calorie count but then, annual general meetings only come once a year!
