Coming up on 18 November is the 152nd Wine auction of the Hospices de Beaune with Carla Bruni-Sarkozy as the president this year and a new cuvée offered at auction: ECHEZEAUX GRAND CRU – Cuvée Jean-Luc Bissey. The proceeds will go to two associations: The Fondation Carla Bruni-Sarkozy and the Fondation Idée, whose respective patrons are Gérard Depardieu and Guy Roux. Pictured: Les Echézeaux du Dessus
The 152nd sale of wines from the Hospices de Beaune will be marked by the integration of a new group of wines, notes a press release from Christies.
“Thanks to a recent donation, a new Grand Cru de la Côte de Nuits will join the Mazis-Chambertin and the Clos de la Roche at the Domaine des Hospices donated by Jean-Luc Bissey, who comes from a family of wine producers established in the region for the past four generations.”
The vineyards were planted by Monsieur Bissey’s father around 1945, when he came back from the war and are located in “Les Échézeaux du Dessus”, where the
hillside steeps into “Les Rouges du Bas”. By this generous step, M. Bissey is continuing the grand tradition of generosity of the Bourguignons.
Échézeaux is the third Grand Cru de la Côte de Nuits of
wines offered for sale by the Hospices, after the Mazis- Chambertin in 1976 and the Clos de la Roche since 1991.
